This has all the ingredients of a good nose horn found by a famous dino hunter. Its tip is there but blunted in nature and a nice base. These are rare to find specimens and this one had good bone quality-nice shape and is a true beauty. If not worn - this would be a prize piece. Not much restore but a little underneath with bone chips placed where they belong and glued. This was expertly prepared by myself and it came out well but not a top specimen. Gorgeous Super Rare Jurrasic Othnielia Rex TibiaSpecies: Othnielia Rex Species description: Hypsilophodont named after the famous finder Othniel Marsh. These were small 4.5-6 ft long, 22 lbs which was a fast and agilebipedal herbivore with small arms and larger legs which is why this piece is larger than most bones because it is a tibia. Geologic strata: Morrison Formation Geologic timeframe: Late Jurassic 172-141 MYA Item location: Shell, Wyoming Item rating and description: 12+++++ AMAZING Super RARE PIECE -OTHNIELIA REX Large Tibia . 11”complete tibia which a long time to be certain of its identity and possesses a beautiful fine smooth dark colored bone so characteristic of Morrison Formation items however this is in a claw by itself. The structure is perfect and it was researched thoroughly before this assertion. Remains have been assigned in Wyoming, Utah, and Colorado but recently with Galton's revision of Morrison ornithischians, the only definite remains were found in 1875 so this is a treat for you. Only a few remains have been found and he put some in the othnielosaurus category. Only places known to have othnielia are Denver Museum, AAthal Museum (Barbara), and a partial skeleton by Brill and Carpenter in 2001. I know also recently some hooves with foot bones were found also at same location. This location is one of most abundant fossil remains known by myself. Anyway you have one rare bone here and if not appreciated I will gladly keep it.
