Item location: Alachoa Formation, Marion County, Florida

Item rating and description: 12 +++++  Excellent condition Beyond Rare & Perfect Sub-Adult Smilodon Fatalis Whole Back Of Skull (Cranium) from the real king of beasts - the Smilodon. The dimensions are 6 ½" Long,  approx 7" wide, and 5.5" Tall. The rareness alone of any Smilodon material make this a top collector piece, but to have a ½ Skull is a chance of a lifetime. It is complete from back of eyes  with no restoration, beautiful color and all parts of back  skull present. Brain cavity present and fully inflated with NO compression or distortions, as well as  occipital condyle, and lower jaw quadrates.  The interior sinus area is extra fine. Its just so unreal to have this and not keen on selling it but will at right offer. Keep in mind the last Smilodon sold for $380,000 with the front teeth, and this back is by far the best you will ever see if you ever see one. It even has no repairs, and is so pristine and smooth it is hard to believe how solid it still is. It really is so good to get a half of the world's best known predator It is same species that is found in LaBrea Tar pits. I can say so much about his piece but you already know how valuable this is.

Species description: Well known Smilodon genus sabercat is the same known from La Brea Tar pits in California and Florida with largest canines of any saber-tooth cat. Well known for killing mammoths and larger than a lion with 13 inch skulls and sabers that got to 13 inches including root. You know the animal but if you want to google it for more info please do.

Geological strata: Pleistocene Epoch

Geological period: This one 40,000 years - species  1.8 MYA -10,000 years

Item location: Suwannee County, Florida

Item rating and description: 12 +++++  Totally Natural  Beyond Rare  Smilodon Fatalis  Whole Back Of Skull(Cranium)  from  the real king of beasts - the Smilodon. The dimensions are 6 ¾" Long, approx 6.5" wide, and 6" Tall. The rareness alone of any Smilodon material make this a top collector piece, but to have a ½ Skull is a chance of a lifetime, and now I have two so one must go. This is such a treat because it has a hole in its cranium which was probably what killed it. There are arrows and other sharp implements found close so this was a case that one was killed by a man of some form - homo sapiens in all probability. It was found in a narrow fissure in limestone which accounts for a few bone surface rubs on the ends. It is complete from back of eyes with no restoration, beautiful color dark rust brown and all parts of back skull present while jagged in some cases at the ends but almost all bone present. Brain cavity present and fully inflated with. The strong, red, brown some light pigmentation is totally stunning. NO compression or distortions, as well as occipital condyle, and lower jaw quadrates . Keep in mind the last Smilodon sold for $380,000 with the front teeth, and this back is by far the best you will ever see if you ever see one. It even has no repairs.  This is a way for someone who loves smilodon material to purchase a valuable top ½ of head for an economical price - and one with a fantastic story. It really is so good to get a half of the world's best known predator. It is same species that is found in LaBrea Tar pits. I can say so much about his piece but you already know how valuable this is. While my other one is finished slightly better due to repairs , this one was found the way you see so for all you original eccentrics  this is for you. Skull  ear,eye and air space detail is amazing also. My other one is not totally natural. This one is...

Species: Smilodon populator or fatalis saber-tooth Cat

Species description: Well known Smilodon genus that is either the largest species Populator (only known from South America or fatalis sabercat with the largest canines of any saber-tooth cat of all time. Well known for killing mammoths and larger than a lion with 13-5 inch skulls plus. Many people believe popularator-bigger than Californicus migrated to Florida and this is probable proof of that due to size of these vertebrae. Compare to other californicus I have and it is bigger. This is one of the two species but have to ID it as fatalis but this could be in of a kind so please google it for more info.

Geological strata: Pleistocene Epoch

Geological period: 1.8 MYA - 10,000

Item location: Sulfur Springs, Florida close to Tampa

Item rating and description: 12 + ++++ WOW Largest SMILODON Atlas and Axis vertebrae. These are over 6 inches long with a beautiful articulation point into the brain of Smilodon. These verts fit perfectly together and have less than 15 % restoration total. Occasionally axis verts are found but never both atlas and axis. The size is extreme thus possibly populator and color is unique. How can you describe a piece of SMILODON without paying an arm and a leg so here it is.

Item location:  La Brea Tar Pits    LA, California

Item rating and description 1-12: 14++  2 Perfect Left Front Foot  La Brea SMILODON Phalanges and a Perfect  Complete  Claw . Beyond RARE since NO ONE has these  bones anywhere. All have been verified by one of top cat experts in the world including position. All in excellent shape and from the most famous and rarest place on earth –the La Brea Tar Pits in LA. These were obtained from the pit by the collector Paul Spinner before government control of the most famous place on Earth. The color shows oil sediments and brown pigment that is so famous. The set is 4.5” long and is a left strand with all bones except  the metacarpal .  I believe it’s the second set on the front foot . You can tell the side due to last phalange before the claw as it points towards the left hand when turned on bulbous side. No one can argue this authenticity as I showed it to a number of experts on a recent trip to Tucson. It was saved by a great friend for me on a recent purchase after being in a collection for 70 years. THIS IS NOT AVAILABLE ANYWHERE and keep in mind La Brea goes for double bones in Florida and other areas like Alaska   The last skull not all original went for $360,000 and is the most sought after vertebrate fossil in the world . I know of 4 top collectors trying to find enough parts to make a complete skull from many animals. Everyone wants these and no one sells except me so these will never again be on the market I’m sure.  Anyway here are the pics .
