Gorgeous Extinct 5 Million Year Old Henhengia (Ram) Juvenile 13" Skull with 17" Wide 10" Diameter Horns

Species: Hezhengia  bohlini

Species description: This species is extinct and this skull is only one known outside of China. It was a type of early Sheep like a  Dall Sheep or Ram but is not considered a Ram in China. IT was a huge sheep like a mountain sheep and occupied the same environments including steep rocky slopes and plateaus. Its appearance is as today's Mountain Goat yet far bigger . It ate grass, plants, and was a PART OF MENU FOOD OF THE MACHAIRODUS SABER CAT but this one had defenses and was not an easy kill. Exceptionally rare item

Geological strata: Hipparion Fauna

Geological period: 10-5 MYA Miocene

Item location: Hezheng County, Gansu Providence, China

Item rating and description: 12++++   Unreal Find  Beautiful Extinct Juvenile 90+% Original  Hezhengia 13" Miocene Sheep  SKULL with 17" Width between Horns. This truly is one- of –a –kind keeper for a Rare Collector, as this is the only full  juvenile skull known in existence and I had the adult. Features include Thick Long Horns (10" diameter) completely Natural with grooves like today’s Ram horns only these are at least 5 Million years old; a beautiful light color with only crack fills and small amount of restore at back of one jaw and tip of one horn; Skull with complete  back prepped free of matrix exhibiting condyles, and the  teeth are so rare, and it was an animal that only had lower teeth  in front of the jaws, which are all there plus side molars and premolars, all of which are present and complete. IT is extremely heavy and it took countless hours of prep work to show the teeth and horn lines through eliminating matrix. What a treasure. I never thought I'd get another
but since it was smaller it was received. For that reason if I do not sell I will gladly keep it . It weighs 17 lbs. What a display piece. It sits flat on matrix that is just below the jaws because the heaviness would not allow the jaws to support this piece. The superb nature, lines , color, bulk of beast, and completeness make this a trophy for a most discernable collector only .People pay this amount to hunt and mount a trophy like this of a modern day similar species so why not enjoy this one at your home without the risk of hunting . You will not stop looking at this mammal. Herbivore enthusiasts may apply. I know one-of-a kind is used a lot but that's my speciality  but that is what I try to obtain and really is true. This one, as many others, you will find no where else but here if you want one so don’t wait or its gone. I have many top clients who will fight over this one. The adult sold in 1 week so let’s beat that and is over $4500 less money so why not indulge yourself  and treat yourself to a magnificent long gone animal.

Beautiful Largest Ever Hyaenodon Horridus (Juvenile)

Species: Hyaenodon horridus

Species description: This was the largest species of Hyaenodon in North America with massive high saggital crest in back of head, long narrow snout, short neck and long body and tail. It was the top single carnivore although a number of Terrible Pigs could drive one off. This was the largest carnivore for over 20 Million years called a Creodont and it hunted alone not in packs like its smaller 3 related species . These creodonts shared a specialized dentition commonly found in meat eating mammals with shearing structures called carnassal-teeth. This one species was the size of a bear and had 1000 lbs of pressure per bite , and was more dangerous and a lot bigger than any saber-tooth cat of its time a loner). Male specimens show grinding marks on their teeth which means tooth-grinding was used as intimidation with animals. The last creodont went extinct in America about 23 MYA but lasted to the Miocene in Asia . This is the rarest fossil of the 4 species of Creodont by far.

Geological strata: White River Formation

Geological period: Oligocene Period 35- Early Miocene23 MYA

Item location: Eastern Wyoming close to Lusk

Item rating and description: 11 What a Vicious Rare Carnivore- The Extinct Largest Oligocene 11" Hyaenodon Skull This is a juvenile Largest Carnivore during the Oligocene Period that got to 15" when an adult. This animal has an unusual tooth morphology because as it was growing one of his canines was just coming in behind another juvenile tooth even though it was really huge and larger than all the other Creodont species. The skull has some restoration and very well done in a few areas IT is the only carnivore group that has gone extinct and a real rarity even though I had a larger one that sold this year. Many of the teeth are original but some are restored to this animal but some incisors and few top molars were restored very well. The lower jaw is intact and sagittal crest restored. I can't tell % but at last 70% on this one but assure it is a beautiful animal and well prepped in all regards tucked into a nice display matrix. Both sides are shown but not all on one side . This is not for a discerning buyer because if your going to analyze it I don't want you to buy it because a portion is restored in every area. I will not have this returned ever because it is nice but not museum caliber. This would be a $4500 piece if 90% original since horridus are very rare. This animal has very cool parts and should be viewed as a nice piece at great price. I will not sell to a perfectionist who wants total original.

The pictures do the rest of the talking and this is a prize piece as so many of my mammals and an excellent buy on such a rare mammal that hasn't been seen alive in 20 Million years. Amazing piece of nature and yours for only...

This was way bigger than the largest saber-cat of its time. The animal has under 5 % restore with almost all of the 5% in the forward 1" of mandibles. The color is beautiful on both sides. It displays well. This is a great opportunity to own a real favorite and most oreodonts are more common but this one is very, very rare and one of the LARGEST MAMMALS of the OLIGOCENE. This will not last long so don't procrastinate or it will not be left. You will never see a nicer or larger Oreodont anywhere.
