SOLD

Clearance -Excellent Condition 1560s 2nd Generation Spanish Conquistador Rapier

This is so amazing of a piece it’s like finding Desoto’s Sword, which I have seen before . It is a 1560’s Spanish Heavy Almost 50” Sword ca. Toledo, Spain and was used and kept in Mexico at Mexico City . All Rapiers of this era were heavy. It was found in a wall in a mansion in Mexico City behind the wall so it’s so pristine it was only used in the early years. No evidence of battle except a few fine nics in the blade itself. This was done after Cortez which I believe was 1519-1521. It was hand-made and probably the early owner, but not the first- was a son of a high –ranking Mexican official in the 1590s as the house it was found dates back to this era. Many houses in Mexico are from the 1500’s not like here in USA /. It has little wear which most do with time due to how it was stored behind a wall in a lavish estate. Of course the metal shows age as it changes color over time but the attractiveness of the piece is unheard of. The ornate handle shows nobility and the intricate design is spectacular. It probably has a makers mark on the metal hilt under the wrapped handle which is normal but never take that off. It was in a collection in Austin ,Texas from the 1950s on until recently . This books at a value of $8,000 good value to 14,000 excellent and the professional who sold me this said they don’t get any better than this sword so that means you know the value . There is such a story on this piece and it was authenicated by a top expert to me personally, as he is a dear friend and has authority with high authorities in this country and other countries. No paperwork is provided and didn’t even ask as I know his stature already so you will have to trust me or go to a noted authority yourself in the doubting world. I assure you this is authentic . I had to have this piece and paid high dollars for it but it goes for almost a third of the value so who says there are no deals. Your welcome to send a picture to an authority to get the same facts as I already know but this person likes to remain anonymous. I had a chance also to buy a less ornate 1590’ssword but passed in favor of this masterpiece .
