Species description: At one time it was common in the West but went extinct 23 MYA . The ancient tortoises had primitive jaw muscles and forelimbs were unsuitable for digging like modern ones . This species is much rarer than Stylemys and was a tortoise or land turtle .

Item rating and description: 12 +++ Very Nice 90% Original Huge 13.5” Nice Testudo Tortoise . The color ,completeness, shell quality, and shape are superb. This one while not perfect is really attractive Little restore on edges and the head underneath flap is restored but all in all a great way to get a reasonable very good testudo . It is also huge and 8 “ wide. These are much rarer than others found so treat yourself with this one. This one is a keeper .
