Very Nice Large Ferocious Extinct Creodont (Half Dog-Cat) from the Oligocene 23 MYA

Species: Hyaenodon horridus

Species description: This was the largest species of Hyaenodon  in North America  with massive high saggital crest in back of head, long narrow snout, short neck and long body and tail. It was the top single carnivore although a number  of Terrible Pigs could drive one off.  This was the largest carnivore for over 20 Million years  called a Creodont  and it hunted alone not in packs like its smaller 3 related  species . These creodonts shared a specialized dentition commonly found in meat eating mammals  with shearing structures called carnassal-teeth. This one species was the size of a bear and had 1000 lbs of pressure per bite , and was more dangerous and a lot bigger than any saber-tooth cat of its time   a loner).Male specimens show grinding marks on their teeth which means tooth-grinding was used as intimidation with animals. The last creodont went extinct  in America about 23 MYA but lasted to the Miocene in Asia . This is the rarest fossil of the 4 species of Creodont by far .

Geological strata: White River Formation

Geological period: Oligocene Period 35- Early Miocene23 MYA

Item Location: Pennington  County , S Dakota

Item rating and description: 12 The Extinct  2nd Largest Carnivore  Oligocene 13" Hyaenodon Skull with Beautiful Red Coloration. This piece shows the vicious nature and size of one of two Oligocene Animals that could kill any animal on the plains. It has very good teeth with all original except the front upper teeth , deep red texture which is rare, and super lowers with only part of back restored. The originality is hard to determine but entire upper middle is original plus many other areas. It was very well prepped and a must for any collection. While my 15" specimen was a little better and sold for $4900 this specimen is a nice representation of the species, it is offered at a super price so someone can save and still have a nice specimen. Again no perfectionist  I will sell this to as some restore is on the piece by but limited and done well . Only the terrible pig was more vicious than this critter at this time. There were 4 species and this is the biggest by far. It is on a nice display and you will love this specimen.

GIANT ASIAN MIOCENE JUVENILE SAMOTHERIUM (GIRAFFE) 24.5" SKULL

Species: Rare Early Miocene Male Giraffe (Samotherium) Juvenile Skull 25" Long

Species description: It looked like modern day okapi or short-necked giraffe, which means the modern day African giraffe migrated from Asia and Europe probably when the Mediterean Sea dried up in the Pliocene Period. It had 2 ossicones on its head and very long legs.

Geological strata: Hipparion Fauna

Geological period: 15-1.8 MYA Miocene-Pliocene

Item location:

Item rating and description: 12+++ Very Rare Male  Samotherium (Early Giraffe) Complete 25" Skull with Teeth. This is a rare found indeed with only a few skulls ever found of this animal in Miocene Asia. It has a complete set of teeth and has so many super features that I can't say enough about this skull. The quality of bone is unmatched, shape perfect, beautiful back skull with all parts present, nice display pose and so huge and it's a juvenile. Anyone is unable to get adults so this probably will be the only one I can ever get. The beautiful natural pose shows how the giraffe originated as a huge animal far bigger than today's animal in Africa. Few % restoration at most at nose area.Teeth are impeccable and beautiful and stand out on bottom and top. You will not find this animal
anywhere for sale and I'm practically  giving this away at price I want. I got a good deal since I found the teeth embedded in matrix so IM passing this find on to someone who appreciates an item that can't be found anywherein the world for sale. This is quite the specimen and weighs an unreal 30 lbs just the head alone. The bone lines are simply amazing I can't find enough words to describe this adequately. It was professionally prepared and would be a mainstay for a true collector. It is a male because it has the ossicones on the top of head which are 6" long. The massiveness of the head alone is quite awe inspiring. What a creature!

Species:   Dinictis  Felina  Saber- Cat Skull

Species description:   The long –legged dinictis with razor –sharp sabers was the smallest and the earliest  saber-tooth cat  that roamed North America beginning in the Eocene Period 45 MYA -23 MYA . They stood at least 2 ft tall with cheetah-like habits and diet , and were solitary predators  hunting an abundant food supply of grazing ungulates including camels  and oreodonts . Using their highly developed saber-teeth they would likely sever the blood supply in the neck of their prey in the initial attack. Most skulls  were about 7.5 inches long

Geological strata:  White River Formation

Geological period:  35-23MYA

Item Location :  Custer County, S Dakota

Item location:  Description :  12 Excellent  Adult  Female  Open Mouth  Dinictis Saber-Tooth Cat Skull with 100% Sabers and Rest 90% Overall. It is 7 “ long -avg for the species. This is a special piece as the sabers are all real saber with one small  spot inside  stained due to enamel wear that could have been natural wear for this individual . Also the teeth are almost all original with only a few lower  incisors restored . Even the canine incisors are natural . The molars are all natural and the upper bone quality is premium with overall about 90% natural . The  upper skull is immaculate with all real  original teeth including all small  incisors which is rare nowadays . The teeth are so great on this cat. The upper is almost all original except  for one zygomatic arch(other one natural –yes natural ) and  part of sagittal crest at very top . The lowers have the backs of jaws restored only . All and all it’s an exceptional cat  and this comes from a universitie’s professor’s collection  in PA but was not prepped until recently and what a great job doing that . The color is great and a real beauty in all regards with some natural spots all over the specimen  and with original  sabers which never happens . Almost always tips are missing . It can be shipped without fear of breakage .This is for sincere collectors.  IT comes with a nice pretty display base and is very secure on its stand. Its comes open mouth and easy to mount. I figure overall the skull is about 90% original, and upper teeth are 100% so it’s a premium cat sold to you at a good price. Few of these have been found lately as prices have risen for wholesale and retail cats , and it’s impossible to get these at same prices I used to pay. Also it’s almost impossible to find a good Dinictis for sale anywhere now so supply and demand take over.  These are my speciality  as well as other saber-cats . You just can’t get these anymore for this price . Also prepping fees have increased ,however , I was able to get this at a discount so yours  a fair price of

Monster 26" Tyrannosaurus REX Metatarsal from the Greatest Carnivore That Ever Lived and One of the Largest TREX Known

Species: Tyrannosaurus rex

Species description: One of largest carnivore during dinosaurs age with 12" corner teeth with roots and up to 49 ft long and 15 ft high that lived in western USA - largest in the United States that ever lived and killed and scavenged prey.

Period: Late Cretaceous Period 70-66.5 MYA

Geographic strata found: Hell Creek Formation

Geologic location: NE MONTANA

Item Description: Unbelievable HUGE 26" RARE Complete Tyrannosaurus REX METATARSAL with diameter of 12" at one spot. This REX was a huge one with only one bone of foot 26" and 4 others so this foot was at least  43-47 inches long - WOW. This was a monster REX. This was a joy to prep. While not perfect due to surface find and about 10% restore - both ends and 80% of the middle present with some small pieces. It prepped well and for a surface find bone quality is pretty good. I have the middle one for my collection which is extremely rare, much thinner and much smaller and I estimate the value at $3,000. The color is white to off white to light brown. I have never had one of these, and was surprised how well it went together so I decided to make someone else happy. Just got it from my western trip.  OH for one who want to know it's a TREX for sure what metatarsal  that is hollow that's a therapod is this large. You got the answer.
