Gorgeous Light Color Very Good Quality 6 1/2” Open-Mouth Dinictis Sabercat Skull w 1 Saber onDisplayGorgeous Light-Color Very Good Quality 6 ¾” Open-Mouth Dinictis SabertoothCat Skull with 1 Original Saber on a Display Stand Species: Dinictis Squalidens Species description: The long –legged dinictis with razor –sharp sabers was the smallest and the earliest saber-tooth cat that roamed North America beginning in the Eocene Period 45 MYA -23 MYA . They stood at least 2 ft tall with cheetah-like habitsand diet , and were solitary predators hunting an abundant food supply of grazing ungulates including camels and oreodonts . Using their highly developed saber-teeth they would likely sever the blood supply in the neck of their prey in the initial attack. Most skulls were about 7.5 inches long Geological strata: White River Formation Geological period: 40-35MYA Item location: Shannon County, S Dakota Item rating and description: 1-10 9 Highly Original (80%) Open Mouth Adult Dinictis 6 1/2” that was a very early ones so you could be looking at one of first sabercats ever in existence as Dinictis was the first on earth. The size is small but the earlier ones are in high demand since they are number 1. The sabers are 1 7/8 (close to 2) . For this time period sabers are average size. Any cat 75 or above on originality now is super because cats much rarer now due to few found, and this time frame almost all mammals that is about the best you can get. This cat is so attractive. The left saber is real and the right casted. Areas of restore and repair are the zygomatic arches, sagittal crest , all incisors , 1 molar in back on lower it appears, and on the lower just a small section at top of one side at back. The lower jaw is one of best I’ve seen back of lower jaws . I’m the only one who gets cats from this area . This was found in a lower zone so much earlier than other one I have that’s larger. The one saber is great, and other looks exactly like the other . Cats are going now for so much because demand is high, and few are found. In this area many cats had only 1 .5 inch sabers so this is nice . In fact many hoplophoneus cats only have this size, and they should have bigger ones. This open mouth mounted on a oak base (which can be stained if you wish) is appealing to me. This allows you to get a cat at a low price, as a friend offered it to me at a good price. This doesn’t occur any more. One with 2 sabers like this goes for 13,000 as you see some at site if you wish that. This is your opportunity for someone with not unlimited resources to get one -and the first sabercat at that. You can buy on time also- $1000 per month on layaway will do. Bone looks so good , so this is your chance . I haven’t had a nice Dinictis in a while, as I have 2 hoplos now with 2 sabers at site under sabercats . My prepper who did this one so well. This cat has everything- beautiful lighter color, many original teeth , great lower skull and nice upper. Just feast your eyes on this . This price is a 4 year ago price so snap this up . It can be shipped safely and you can pay monthly. Its not for a perfectionist but it is a nice cat . The display really helps make this stand out .
